Sex scenes or love scenes. How ever you want to referr to them as. Do you agree Hollywood has changed?
Maybe I am being a little nostalgic here lol. But I can recall films having some pretty sexy, artistically, mystifying sex scenes in films. Some of the films they have taken place in were good, some were bad movies. One I really want to talk about here is the movie Highlander: The Final Dimension. Horrible movie as all Highlander sequels.
This movies, like I said was horrible. But before watching it, the actress who caught my mind was Deborah Unger, who is still very beautiful. She is actually a good actress as well in a crappy movies. The only reason to sit through this garbage. Came out in 94. In the theatrical trailer, you get a glimpse of what is to come. The pay-off for sitting through this torture. About an hour and 10 mins or so of pain and misery, the sex scene with Deborah Unger and Christopher Lambert takes place. Now I would like to explain this in different aspects. Art. Sexy. Reveal.
Art was in good taste and fashion. The music before the love scene and the music during. You just don't get that anymore. It made the scene even more sexy. Terminator(A good movie) is another example, with a very young and sexy Linda Hamilton. I enjoyed the siloet lighting in it as Deborah was fully naked but also left to the imagination.
Sexy. Like I said. The music was awsome and fit the mood which you don't see. I know I am repeating myself here, but thats because, even in a crap fest like this, you have a scene that current blockbusters could not even come close to which is sad due to our remake/sequel, unoriginal Hollywood. Her movements who topnotch. Deborah Unger sure showed incredibly sexy body language which also fit the rythm of the music.
Reveal. She gets naked ofcoures in a sex scene. Naked to the bone. Everything is shown but is not. I explain this through lighting like in art. She shows her backside, which is gorgeous along with everything else, but does not show really all too much frontal nudity, which kinda allows the scene to fall in between R and PG-13 pushing the boundries. Even if the scene is considered smutty by some, who said smutt is bad? I for one have nothing against that, but thats not how I would describe this. The sex scene in this movie was beautiful and hit all the notes on key.
I'm not trying to sound like a nut job asking this, but after everything I said, doesn't it feel like Hollywood has lost something in the art of making sexy love scenes? I'm sure you can find the video on youtube or somewere.
Also, I can't stress how erotic and exciting it was the way it was shot showing Deborah's awsome
body even before she gets naked. For those who seen it, thy know what I mean.
